Burnaby Public Library provides library services across Burnaby. Tommy Douglas branch is at 7311 Kingsway, Burnaby, BC V5E 1G8. It offers public computers, Wi-Fi, printing, photocopying, scanning, community rooms, children’s and teen spaces, accessible washrooms and wheelchair-accessible facilities. Branch hours: Monday–Thursday 10:00–20:00; Friday–Sunday 10:00–18:00. Confirm holiday closures and current hours with the library.

Phone and text crisis support with an optional in-person response for mental health and substance-use distress.
CRCL (formerly the Peer Assisted Care Team) offers trauma-informed crisis counselling and de-escalation, connects people with community supports, and can accompany people to emergency departments, police stations or community organizations. Available to youth aged 13 and older and adults living in New Westminster, 07:00–23:30 daily. Call or text.
City park with fields, playgrounds, a spray park, outdoor pool, off-leash dog area, trails, courts and picnic facilities.
Hume Park includes open space, grass fields, playgrounds, a picnic shelter, native plantings, parking, and access to the Brunette River and Brunette-Fraser Trail. Amenities include an outdoor pool and spray park, off-leash dog area, baseball diamond, lacrosse box, sports fields, tennis courts with pickleball lines, washrooms and a water fountain. Some facilities are seasonal; check current schedules. Booking is required for sports field use and the lacrosse box. Two picnic tables at the Lower Hume shelter are wheelchair accessible.

The Main Branch is at 716 6th Avenue and the Queensborough Branch is inside Queensborough Community Centre at 920 Ewen Avenue. Library cards are free. Most online resources are available only to New Westminster residents. Ask the library about current holiday closures and branch availability.

TransLink bus route connecting Coquitlam Central and Braid stations via Austin Avenue and Poirier Street.
From Braid Station, Route 153 travels via Brunette, Laurentian, Austin Avenue, Poirier Street, Foster Avenue, Linton Street, Como Lake Road, Mariner Way and Barnet Highway to Coquitlam Central Station. TransLink bus route connecting Braid Station and 22nd Street Station.
Route 155 travels from Braid Station via Braid Street, East Columbia Street, Hospital Street, Richmond Street, Cumberland Street, Sixth Avenue, Marine Drive, 22nd Street and Seventh Avenue to 22nd Street Station. Service operates daily; consult TransLink for current times, service changes and alerts. The saved timetable is effective January 5, 2026.

Food bank operations paused since July 14, 2026; call the Citadel for current food support options.
The Salvation Army BC Division announced that New Westminster Citadel food bank operations paused effective July 14, 2026 while it develops a regional food services model. The previously published Monday distribution schedule is no longer reliable. The Citadel says a list of other local food banks is available there. Contact the Citadel before visiting; no reopening date has been confirmed.
