Volunteer-based emergency response for people displaced by disasters and emergency response workers. Short-term primary services may include emergency food, clothing, lodging, registration and inquiry. Specialized services may include childcare, pet care, recreation, transportation, first aid, emotional and special-needs support, volunteer services, communications and public information. Beaver Creek Community Hall is one of the designated Alberni Valley reception centres. A centre opens only when activated; this depends on the incident, evacuee numbers, facility and volunteer availability.
