The provincial ferry crosses Parsons Channel between the north bank at Barnston Island and Port Kells at the south bank in northeast Surrey. It runs on demand: Monday–Thursday 6:15 a.m.–11:55 p.m.; Friday–Sunday 6:15 a.m.–12:55 a.m. Crossing time is about five minutes. Capacity is up to five vehicles and 52 passengers, subject to vessel load limits; trucks over 20,000 kg GVW travel separately. Service can be interrupted when river traffic warrants. The Surrey Food Bank provides food hampers to residents of Surrey north of 40th Avenue and North Delta. New clients must book an appointment to register before receiving hampers; walk-ins are not accepted for registration. Registered clients are assigned a biweekly pickup day and must renew registration every six months. Pregnant people and families with babies under one year may ask about weekly Tiny Bundles; people aged 65 and older may use the seniors distribution; homebound clients with medical or physical challenges may request Hamper to Your Home. Alternate distribution centres are available across Surrey and North Delta; contact the food bank for current locations and schedules.
