Year-round waste disposal and recycling drop-off site open daily, with material-dependent fees and free recycling for many accepted items.
The Lower Nicola Eco-Depot is at 2348 Woodward Road and is open year-round Monday through Sunday, 8 am to 4 pm. It is closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. The TNRD accepts household garbage for $94.50 per tonne ($5 minimum); residential cardboard, containers, flexible plastics, glass, paper and Styrofoam recycling is free. Many other categories are accepted, including batteries, electronics, small electrical appliances, large appliances, scrap metal, propane tanks and canisters, light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, tires, used oil and paint. Charges apply to commercial recycling, concrete/asphalt, demolition/renovation/construction waste, mattresses and box springs, wood waste/asphalt shingles and commercial yard waste; check the source sheet for rates and conditions.
