Sunshine Coast Community Services operates Better at Home between Port Mellon and West Sechelt. Services include friendly visiting, transportation, grocery delivery, light housekeeping, minor home repair, and basic technology setup. Volunteer services are free when available; housekeeping fees use a sliding scale based on income and ability to pay. Sunshine Coast residents aged 65 or older may apply. Contact the program for information or to join its waitlist; staff conduct an assessment when applicants near the top of the list.

Foot-passenger sailings connect New Brighton on Gambier Island with Langdale and other island stops.
Kona Winds Yacht Charters operates the passenger-only service to and from New Brighton. Vehicles cannot travel on this route. Some New Brighton departures are on request; call or text 604-740-6589 at least one hour before the scheduled sailing and leave your name, phone number, travel time and pickup location. Schedules may change without notice, so check the current schedule before travelling. Some departures from Langdale will wait for the connecting Horseshoe Bay sailing. BC Ferries lists no terminal accessibility options.

Weekly food assistance for residents of the Sunshine Coast.
The food bank is open Wednesdays from 10:00 to 17:30. Clients need identification for each household member and proof of Sunshine Coast residency; the provider makes allowances for people experiencing homelessness. Adults aged 19 or older sharing the home should attend with the client or call to confirm household membership. Food Bank contact: 604-885-5881 extension 240, sccssfoodbank@sccss.ca. The provider has announced that regular food bank service will be closed Wednesday, September 30, 2026, with a bread-and-produce service Tuesday, September 29 from 12:00 to 15:00.
