Inland ferry service connecting Kootenay Bay with Balfour across Kootenay Lake.
The Province of British Columbia lists the Kootenay Lake ferry route between Balfour and Kootenay Bay, with a crossing time of about 35 minutes. The M.V. Osprey 2000 carries up to 70 vehicles and 144 passengers; the reduced-capacity M.V. Balfour carries up to 19 vehicles and 150 passengers during Osprey maintenance. The winter schedule lists nine daily departures from Kootenay Bay from 7:10 am to 10:20 pm. The summer schedule generally runs from the third week of June until after Labour Day and adds six M.V. Balfour departures, with first departure at 7:10 am and last at 10:20 pm.
