Nursing Station and visiting health services for Gitga’at community members.
The Hartley Bay Nursing Station is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, at 718 Wahmoodmx Boulevard; phone 250-841-2556. Two Remote Certified Nurses provide public health services including vaccinations and pre- and postnatal care, chronic disease management, health promotion and response to acute health needs. A Mobile Primary Care Team with a family physician and nurse practitioner visits regularly for assessments, diagnosis, treatment plans, disease screening and medication management. Gitga’at Health Department also provides home and community care, with a home support worker in the community and a visiting Home Care Nurse. A dentist travels to the community four times per year; patients need to sign up. Mental health support is culturally relevant and focused on members. Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy and paediatrics professionals also visit. The Nation says services are available to members and, in some cases, guests; confirm eligibility and appointments with the Nursing Station.
