This program supports victims of all types of crime, including people injured or bereaved by an accused person who has not been identified or charged. Supports include emotional support, advocacy, court orientation and accompaniment, help completing forms, liaison with justice-system personnel, information about criminal justice processes, and referrals to community services. Short-term emergency assistance for people evacuated from their homes.
The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine Emergency Support Services team provides short-term help during emergencies, including referrals for food, clothing and lodging, family reunification, information, emotional support and emergency pet care. Access is available when an emergency activates ESS; use the designated reception centre or contact the program for instructions. In its 2022 Usk evacuation notice, the RDKS directed affected residents to register at the Thornhill Community Centre or call its ESS number. Support depends on the emergency and available resources; this is not a day-to-day service.

The Salvation Army food-share program in Gitwinksihlkw helps families in Gitwinksihlkw, Gitlaxt’aamiks (New Aiyansh), Laxgalts’ap and Gingolx obtain food items they need. A 2024 provider account said more than 60 families used it, clients could visit once a week, and income information was not requested. The provider did not publish a current street address or schedule; contact the local Salvation Army before visiting.

Nisg̱a’a Government delivers healthcare through NVHA. The Gitlaxt’aamiks (New Aiyansh) hub has a diagnostic centre, a full-time doctor and nurse, scheduled dental, mental health and optometric services. Other services include community health representatives, drug and alcohol prevention and home care. NVHA operates satellite clinics in the other Nisg̱a’a Villages. The program includes Bonita Barton Nursery School for children 30 months to four years, Monday-Friday 9-11:30 a.m.; daycare/Head Start for birth to six years, Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Tiny Tots for ages 18 months to three years (contact the provider for times).
