It can help locate financing and provides repayable business loans for eligible new and existing businesses; applications are assessed against location, viability, ability to repay, security, and other criteria. Ferry connection between the north-shore community of Francois Lake and Southbank.
The Province says the MV Francois Forester runs on Highway 35 between the community of Francois Lake on the north side and Southbank on the south side, about 26 km south of Burns Lake. The crossing takes 15 minutes. Service hours are 5:30 am–10:30 pm from the south side and 5:55 am–11:00 pm from the north side. Capacity is 52 vehicles and 145 passengers. Autumn Services provides Better at Home supports for seniors to help them maintain independence. Listed supports include friendly visiting, grocery shopping and delivery, light housekeeping, light yard work, minor home repairs, snow removal and transportation to appointments. The program is generally for people aged 65 and older, with exceptions for some people aged 55–64; pre-registration is required and fees are set on a sliding scale based on household income.
