The Eastgate Fire Protection Society provides community training and communications to residents to support BC Wildfire Service during wildfires and other emergencies. A May 2024 roundtable record says the society is not a structural fire department and notes a hose-lay course attended by 20 people. Do not rely on the society for structural fire response or emergency dispatch. Call 911 for emergencies; report wildfires or unsafe behaviour that could start a wildfire to BC Wildfire Service at 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 from a cellphone.
