Free counselling, assessment, treatment, referrals, and support groups for adults and youth in Birch Island and area.

Adult mental health assessment and treatment for mental health disorders, self-destructive behaviours, family issues, stress, and daily-living difficulties. Counselling for adults and youth dealing with alcohol or drug issues, including support for people affected by someone else’s substance use. General community counselling, referrals to treatment and detox programs, and support groups are also available. Counselling is in person or virtual. Free; no referral required. Serves Clearwater and area including Avola, Birch Island, Blackpool, Blue River, Little Fort, and Vavenby. Office hours Monday–Friday 08:30–12:00 and 13:00–16:30; program hours vary.

24-hour temporary emergency shelter network for women leaving relationship violence in Birch Island and surrounding communities.

A 24-hour network of temporary emergency shelter for self-identified women, with or without children, leaving violence in relationships. A stay is typically three to five days. Male children up to age 19 are accepted; older dependent males with disabilities may be considered. If mobility is an issue, a wheelchair-accessible hotel room may be arranged. Pets may be accommodated case by case. Funded by BC Housing. Contact by phone to arrange support; no public shelter address is listed.
